Nord Grand Digital Piano
The Swedish company Clavia has been handcrafting top quality instruments for the diligent keyboard player for years. After the release of the Piano 4, they announced the Nord Grand Digital Piano. In addition to all the features of the Piano 4, the Grand has got a phenomenal Kawai keybed, a more comprehensive interface and a full red wood panel finish.
This instrument offers Nord's now infamous high-quality samples, along with the best possible keyboard from Kawai: the Kawai Responsive Hammer keyboard. This keybed has three sensors per key, which accurately and precisely register the tiniest movements of the hammers. This creates the most authentic feeling imaginable, as if you were playing the most expensive grand piano ... without paying the price!
A selection of the fantastic piano samples from Nord are pre-loaded in the Grand: 10 grand pianos, 9 upright pianos and 10 electric pianos. The great thing about Nord, however, is that you get complete control over which sounds you want in your instrument. On their website you will find hundreds of free high-quality samples: synthesizers, Mellotrons, pianos ... Clavia has sampled just about everything, from Steinway to Fazioli, from Oberheim to Moog, from Rhodes to Wurlitzer ... for free, and in unimaginably high quality. Unique to the Nord Grand Digital Piano, compared to Clavia's other pianos, is that this instrument has an additional 2 GB of memory to store the dedicated piano sounds in. This way you only play the most detailed samples, which allow for the smallest nuances in your playing. In addition, Clavia also samples the string resonance and the physical key and pedal sounds of their piano's, and models those separately, making these instruments sound more realistic than you ever thought possible. The pedal sounds are triggered with the Nord Triple Pedal, worth 195 EUR, which you get completely free with this instrument. In addition to a sustain pedal, you also get an una corda and sostenuto pedal.
Samples and Effects
Nord likes to give their players the opportunity to adjust their sounds 'on the fly'. This way you can tweak the pianos completely to your liking and to the smallest detail, with the equalizer or the advanced string resonance for example, or with a combination of effects from the designated effects section. This includes a Tremolo, Phaser, Chorus, Pan, Wah, Ring Modulator, Flanger, Vibe, Delay and Reverb (Room, Hall and Stage).
Finally, the Grand is compatible with the Piano Monitors and the unique and tailor-made tripod, the Wood Stand V2, to be able to play the instrument in the most optimal conditions.
